Brazil’s New Middle Class is Shopping on Credit

As the world’s 7th largest economy, Brazil has shown great growth across numerous industry sectors over the past years. Last year alone, Brazil’s economy managed to increase by an impressive 7.5% with the finance ministry predicting an overall annual growth of 4.5% this year. It is interesting to note that Brazilians have peculiar shopping habits that have in a more focused perspective led to far reaching economic implications.

Most retail stores in Brazil now allow residents to buy items and pay for them in installments. This culture has in turn encouraged more Brazilians to spend money on items, which in the first instance, they do not really require. (more…)

Life’s Getting Better in China, Brazil, and India

These are the three countries in this world that are making an impressive leap outside of the economic crisis and onto the ship of economic growth as well as increased retails, stable inflation and a better life standard.

China moved up to the second place in the GDP ranking of countries in the recent past years. They have extremely high growth rates and the people are ready to put their hands in their pockets. A research shows that just about ¾ of the Chinese people fancy green products and half of them are even ready to pay more, but have something that is eco-friendly. (more…)

Offshore Photos

Here’s another handful of offshore photos from a recent assignment for Rigsby Hull and Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. These offshore photographs shows oil rig constructions and roughnecks at work on Ocean Valor, which is situated off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, an approximately 75 minutes ride by helicopter. The oil rig workers stays on the offshore rig drilling for oil in 15 and 30 days shifts. The oil rig photos will be used as part of Diamond Offshore’s communication material to clients and investors, including web and print media.

Once again I had the pleasure of working with Rigsby Hull and Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. on a oil rig photography project. During the course of a day, I visited their newest acquisition, the DP Semisubmersible Ocean Valor, in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

The oil rig photography includes pictures of the offshore construction, roughnecks portraits, offshore work situations. The final artwork will be used as part of Diamond Offshores communication to their shareholders and clients. This project contributes to the growing collection of oil drilling and oil rigs images and associated oil and gas industry structures and vessels by industrial photographer Jacob Langvad Nilsson.
